What are your New Year Traditions !!

Big Ben and Midnight Countdown

People across the UK gather to count down the seconds to midnight, often syncing their celebrations to the chimes of Big Ben in London. It's a central feature of New Year festivities, either experienced in person or via live broadcasts.

Fireworks

Elaborate fireworks displays are a hallmark of New Year celebrations, with London hosting one of the most iconic events along the River Thames. Cities and towns across the UK also have their own displays to ring in the New Year.

Auld Lang Syne Singing

"Auld Lang Syne," a traditional Scottish song written by Robert Burns, is a widespread custom. People join hands in a circle to sing this song at midnight, reflecting on the past year and cherishing friendships.

First-Footing

This tradition, especially prevalent in Scotland, involves being the first person to enter a home after midnight. The first-footer is believed to bring good luck and usually carries symbolic gifts like coal, bread, whisky, or money.

Strange Tradition

One of the strangest New Year traditions in the world comes from Denmark, where people smash plates against the doors of friends and neighbours. This unusual custom is believed to bring good luck and strengthen friendships for the year ahead. The idea is the bigger the pile of broken crockery outside your door, the more popular and lucky you’re considered!

What ever your tradition we wish you and your loved ones every happiness in 2025
